Vietnamese in Thailand paints hundreds of paintings of Uncle Ho

Uncle Ho in Mr. Dao Trong Ly's paintings is an extremely simple and loving leader

55 oil and watercolor paintings selected from Mr. Dao Trong Ly's collection of more than 100 paintings of Uncle Ho introduced to the public in Hanoi at an exhibition on the Heart of Overseas Vietnamese Artists for Uncle Ho at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi in 2024

Mr. Dao Trong Ly painted many pictures of Uncle Ho with children

Artist Dao Trong Ly was born in 1951 in a patriotic overseas Vietnamese family in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand, originally from Quoc Oai district, Hanoi.

He loved drawing when he was a child and wanted to become an artist. But his family's economic conditions did not allow him to pursue a career in painting. He became a Vietnamese teacher for overseas Vietnamese children, and participated in the work of the Vietnamese association in Nakhon Phanom province.

In this province as well as many provinces in Thailand, overseas Vietnamese have heard a lot about Uncle Ho and are very proud of the years he worked in Thailand.

With Uncle Ho's picture hanging in his house, Mr. Ly and many Vietnamese children in Thailand have loved Uncle Ho since childhood.

Mr. Ly's impression is that President Ho Chi Minh was not only an outstanding leader and politician but also a simple leader who loved the people very much.

So since 2018, when he transferred to manage the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area in Nakhon Phanom province, Mr. Dao Trong Ly began to paint Uncle Ho based partly on the documents and images of him that he found, and above all, painted with the great respect of a child far from home for Uncle Ho.

Choosing to draw Uncle Ho from impressive photos of him, Mr. Dao Trong Ly's series of paintings is like a history book about Uncle Ho's life and activities, from the early days of finding a way to save the country, to the important milestones of the history of the Vietnamese revolution in which he participated as an outstanding but simple leader, full of love for his compatriots and humanity.

Mr. Dao Trong Ly hopes that the paintings, although not really creative, but coming from his heart of love for Uncle Ho, will further foster the love for Uncle Ho not only for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand but also for anyone who sees the paintings./.
