Thanks to the support of Naval Region 4, the people across the country, and the efforts of the officers and soldiers, sports facilities on the islands have been modernized and continuously developed.
Depending on local conditions, island command units arrange sports training areas equipped with facilities for various sports, including bodybuilding, table tennis, boxing, and more. Larger islands even have football fields, volleyball courts, and badminton courts.
Sports tournaments and recreational activities are frequently organized on weekends, holidays, and special occasions, providing soldiers with an enjoyable and relaxing environment while enhancing their physical fitness. These activities also help strengthen the bond between the military and the local people.
Private To Van Nam (Combat Group No. 1, Spratly Island) shared: "Football is my favorite sport. Inspired by the great example of President Ho Chi Minh, we actively engage in sports and exercise after completing our duties to improve our strength, endurance, and combat readiness. This helps us stay resilient and prepared to defend our nation's sacred maritime sovereignty. Through sports, the solidarity among us grow even stronger."
Major Vu Van Lan, Political Officer of Da Tay C Island, added: "After working hours, officers and soldiers on the island enthusiastically participate in sports activities. This not only serves as military training but also helps improve physical health and strengthen immunity."
Every officer and soldier stationed on the Spratly Islands exhibits strength and resilience—a result of rigorous training and disciplined exercise. Their robust physique and steadfast spirit empower them to firmly hold their weapons and safeguard the nation’s sacred maritime sovereignty./.
