Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Pleiku City People's Committee Dang Toan Thang emphasized that in recent years, extreme climate phenomena have been increasing. Droughts, storms, floods and erratic weather changes are having a strong impact on people's lives. Therefore, planting trees and forests is one of the solutions that contributes to protecting the ecological environment and adapting to climate change.

According to Mr. Thang, the tree planting activity aimed to call on all officials and people of the city to raise awareness of environmental protection; actively participate in protecting forests and preventing the illegal cutting, burning and exploitation of forests. “Doing these things well means following Uncle Ho's teachings, contributing to socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, increasing income and improving the quality of life for the people, while preserving the environment,” said Mr. Thang.

After the launching ceremony, leaders of provinces, departments, branches and localities and nearly 300 officials, civil servants, public employees and workers planted 830 pine trees in Gao commune./.
