Addressing the ceremony, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed that the teachings are an invaluable spiritual heritage; the guidelines for each activity; and the standards for morality, lifestyle, working measures, and adequate behaviours.
Reviewing national resistance wars against invaders, the NA Chairwoman said that over 14,000 public security officers sacrificed their lives; over 5,000 officers were injured; and tens of thousands of officers underwent enemies’ torture with consequences affecting their next generations. “At present, public security forces continue to devote and sacrifice to protect people’s peaceful lives and the nation’s prosperity,” she said, adding that during the renewal process alone, nearly 300 officers sacrificed their lives and thousands of others were injured struggling against hostile forces and criminals. “That is the clearest evidence for the results of studying and following Uncle Ho’s 6 teachings,” she went on to say.
Praising the achievements by public security, she urged the forces to continue to disseminate the contents, value and historic significance of the teachings, prevent negative phenomena, and increase the quality of movements.
According to the NA Chairwoman, realizing the teachings must be connected with the implementation of the Politburo on increasing the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style, in connection with Party building and rectification and prevention of a degradation of political ideology, morality and style in the Party.
On March 11th, 1948, in a letter to the public security, Uncle Ho noted that public security must achieve 6 criteria, including practising hard work, thrift and honesty to themselves; love and assistance to colleagues; complete loyalty to the Government; respect to the people; wholeheartedness to work; and resolution and intelligence to enemies./.
