The launching ceremony will be held simultaneously across the province at 3:00 PM on February 3, 2025 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year). The main event will take place on the Phu Anh – Cau Van road in Dong Khe Commune, Thanh Hoa City, with the participation of provincial leaders and representatives from various departments, agencies, and sectors. At this site, 179 trees of species with a trunk diameter of over 10 centimeters and a height of more than 3.5 meters, will be planted.
According to the plan, all 26 districts, towns, and cities in the province have been assigned specific targets. Nghi Son Town has the highest target of 270,000 trees, followed by Thanh Hoa City with 240,000 trees. Localities will plant trees in vacant lands within urban areas, industrial zones, residential clusters, along traffic corridors, within offices, schools, hospitals, historical and scenic sites, around houses and gardens, along roads, riverbanks, canals, field boundaries, and hilly areas. The planting will also cover parts of concentrated forest areas, coastal protective zones, and align with the local new rural development program.
The selection of tree species will be tailored to the climate and soil conditions of each locality, prioritizing multi-purpose trees, large timber trees, ornamental trees, shade trees, and valuable species.
This initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s national project "Planting one billion trees for the period 2021–2025." The province has mandated that the activities be practical, economical and effective, encouraging participation from all social classes./.
