The activities, which will last from April 1 to May 9, include workshops, a contest on Uncle Ho, composition of art and literature works on Uncle Ho and Co To Island, and reviewing the 5 years of implementation of the Politburo directive on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style.

The incense offering ceremony and the special art program "Quang Ninh grateful to Uncle Ho" will be held on May 8, expressing the affection of officials and people of Quang Ninh province in general, military forces and people on the Co To Island in particular for Uncle Ho.

“This is a very big event which has special meaning for the people on the island," said Mr. Le Hung Son, Secretary of the Co To Island District Party Committee and Chairman of the District People’s Committee, adding that a film screening on Uncle Ho will be held in all the district’s localities.

In the 27 years since establishment in 1994, Co To Island District has continuously made great efforts to comply with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings when he visited the island 60 years ago. In 2013, Co To was connected to the national grid, marking a historic milestone to help Co To people change their quality of life, thus striving to become the first new-style rural island district of the country in 2016. Currently Co To is implementing the plan to build the island district as a high-class tourist center with a system of international-class services, motels and hotels./.
