Following Uncle Ho’s example helps support disadvantaged workers

The Hanoi Confederation of Labour on March 31 held a meeting to review 5 years since the implementation of the Politburo’s directive (term XII) on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style.

During the implementation, 163,973 initiatives were recognized at the grassroots level, 11,704 recognized at the central level. The Hanoi People's Committee also awarded certificates of "Capital Initiative" to 320 individuals. In which, 290 initiatives benefit more than VND2 trillion. Many initiatives have been applied in production, bringing high economic efficiency, benefiting businesses and society tens of billions of VND each year.

Notably, social activities, subsidies, assistance to workers and employees in difficult circumstances, taking care of and protecting the legitimate rights of workers have been focused on implementing by the trade unions at all levels, notably providing free car trips to bring workers back home to celebrate Tet; organizing Vietnamese goods fairs; selling goods at stabilized prices; giving free medical examination and treatment, and special difficulty subsidies for workers and employees working in poverty; and visiting and giving Tet gifts to social groups in difficult circumstances, using a capital of over VND 177 billion.

The fund for poor workers and employees, for the domestic economic development, has appraised 405 projects with the disbursement amount of more than VND 131 billion to 5,752 families, contributing to increasing income by VND1 to VND1.5 million per month per employee.

Addressing the meeting, Vice President of the Hanoi Confederation of Labour Ngo Van Tuyen suggested that trade unions at all levels increase the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style.

“The implementation of the directive should be considered key and regular work of each trade union, cadre, Party member, worker and labourer,” he stressed./.
