The artwork is composed of nearly 2,000 lotus flower photographs and includes 30 rare lotus varieties preserved and developed by scientists from the Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute.
In his speech at the event, Nguyen Van Chi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Standing Office of the New Rural Coordination Office of Hanoi, highlighted that the development of the lotus plant is linked to promoting ecological agriculture, attracting tourism, and showcasing the image of Vietnam and its capital Hanoi. Hanoi currently has over 600 hectares dedicated to lotus cultivation, integrated with models that exploit the value chain from the ecosystem of the lotus. Among the more than 2,700 OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, 18 are derived from the lotus plant.
Given this significance, Hanoi expects that organizing the Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 and introducing OCOP products associated with the culture of the northern provinces will honor the value of the lotus in daily life.
Le Thi Phuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh President Memorial Site at the Presidential Palace, stated that after receiving the stained glass portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, the unit will place it in a prominent position to help promote the image of the Vietnamese lotus to visitors.
On the same day, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan visited and encouraged participants at the Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 and the event introducing OCOP products, linked with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces.
He highly appreciated the efforts of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the collaboration with Tay Ho District and several units in organizing the first Hanoi Lotus Festival. He emphasized that the event was organized on a large scale and spread practical values.
He also noted that Hanoi is on the right track in exploiting local cultural values and strengths to develop OCOP products. “The introduction and promotion of OCOP products through events and festivals are becoming increasingly professional and attractive,” he added.
The Hanoi Lotus Festival 2024 is taking place at the Tay Ho Cultural and Creative Space, located at Alley 612, Lac Long Quan Street, Tay Ho, Hanoi, on July 12-16./.
