Female wounded soldier Bien Thi My in Trung Hung village, Trung Lap Thuong commune, Cu Chi district, joined revolutionary activities when she was 15 years old. She underwent a lot of hardships to raise her children and do businesses. After tens of years saving money, she raised a herd of hundreds of pigs. In 2002, she borrowed VND60 million from the national fund for job creation to invest in the breeding grounds and buy breeding pigs. However, in 2005, as the blue ear pig disease occurred, her pigs died. Despite difficulties, she turned to carrying out aquaculture and raising cows for meat, earning over VND100 million per year.
Born from a revolutionary family, wounded soldier Bien Thi My’s father, 3 brothers and sisters are martyrs, while her mother is recognized as a Vietnamese heroic mother. She has nurtured the revolutionary tradition among her children. Her 3 children have become Party members while her husband is a Secretary of the village Party Organization for many years.
