Statue of President Ho Chi Minh to be completed in St. Petersburg

Giving an introduction of the draft design of the President Ho Chi Minh statue at the workshop to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2023) held by the Foreign Affairs Committee of St. Petersburg in late January 2023, Architect Chernov Anatoly Petrovich said that the bronze-cast monument will be located at the intersection between the street named after Ho Chi Minh and the Enlightenment Boulevard in Vyborgsky district (St. Petersburg), a highly symbolic location. The main side of the monument faces east, towards Vietnam.

According to Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee for External Relations Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, the inauguration of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in St. Petersburg in the coming time is a testament to the warm affection and deep respect that the Russian people have for President Ho Chi Minh, as well as a testament to the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

According to Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang, the President Ho Chi Minh statue is a large and painstaking project. The Vietnamese community in Russia is waiting for the inauguration of the statue. He affirmed that Vietnamese people in Russia will always show strong solidarity and are willing to contribute to the friendship policy of the two Governments. He also expressed his wish to see in Vietnam a monument to honor Soviet and Russian experts - symbols of the friendship between the two countries.

Currently, St. Petersburg and Vietnamese authorities are making efforts to keep the project of erecting a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the "Northern capital of Russia" on schedule./.
