To mark the 126 th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19 th ), the Soc Trang provincial border guard headquarters has organised a ceremony to report achievements with Uncle Ho at the national historic relic of a temple to Uncle Ho in An Thanh Dong commune, Cu Lao Dung district.
Senior lieutenant-colonel Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Deputy Political Commissar of the provincial border guard headquarters, said that over the past years, in realization of Uncle Ho’s teachings, the border guard has made great efforts to practice and raise the political, military and professional qualifications.
Agencies have strictly mastered the situation in the area and promptly carried out suitable solutions to deal with any urgent situations, protecting national sovereignty, successfully struggling against drug trafficking and transport cases, eliminating dozens of locations of cannabis plantation, and dealing with hundreds of trafficking and gambling cases or social disorder cases, as well as illegal fish exploitation.
In addition, the provincial border guard has coordinated with agencies and local authorities to build 25 houses for poor families and a concrete bridge worth hundreds of millions of VND; give free medical check-ups and medicine to 35,000 people; contribute over 4,000 working days to help local residents; and actively participate in natural disaster prevention and rescue work activities, saving dozens of fishermen in danger at sea./.
