A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh city on May 17 th to mark the 126 th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, in which 161 outstanding collectives and individuals were honoured for studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s example in ethics and 29 Party members were granted Party insignias.
Le Thanh Hai, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, who was one of 14 outstanding individuals honoured at the ceremony, attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony, Tat Thanh Cang, Party Central Committee member and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee, noted that Uncle Ho is a trust and a source of strength for every citizen in the city to construct and protect the city for further development. “Therefore, studying and following Uncle Ho’s ethical example has been a self-conscious deed of each person in the city Party Committee, in the city’s political system and among the whole people,” he said.
According to Mr. Cang, the 161 examples honoured have realised practical work which bring long-term benefits to the people, contributing to fulfilling the tasks of each locality and agency. Many agencies have accelerated the addressing of urgent problems in the management of construction, urban order and inspection.
He urged each agency, organization and individual to make great efforts in realising administrative reform, successfully realise 7 breakthrough programs set in the city’s 10 th Party Congress resolution, and continue to make corruption and wastefulness prevention a key task.
“More and more collectives and individuals who devote themselves at work are needed to further boost the development in the city named after Uncle Ho,” he stressed.
During the ceremony, 29 Party members were awarded with the 30, 40, 50 and 55-year Party insignias./.
