Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Party Committee has asked to build the tunnel to become Ho Chi Minh's cultural space during his recent visit to Phu Tho Hoa tunnels, which was a creative work in the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans of the army and people of Loc Hoa, Phu Tho.

Firstly, Phu Tho Hoa tunnels were secret cellars, especially frog cellars. This type of cellar still had a disguised lid, had a niche and a vent. As a dead end cellar, it had the disadvantage that when it was discovered by the enemy, there was no way out.

Due to the requirements of the resistance wars, the cellar was expanded into an inter-commune tunnel system, starting from Loc Hoa village to Binh Long and Binh Dong villages, through Binh Hung Hoa to Go Dau village. The length of the tunnels extends more than 10km.

During the 9-year resistance war against the French, the Phu Tho Hoa tunnels hid thousands of officers, guerillas and soldiers. It was also a cradle for many officials and soldiers at all levels to stop and work there.

The 100m-long section of tunnel was restored in 1985 and in 1996 it was recognized as a national historical-cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Recently, Phu Tho Hoa tunnel has become a place to educate the people, especially the young generation, about the local historical traditions.

In 2022, the Tan Phu District People's Committee coordinated with the HCMC Department of Tourism to launch the tour "Tan Phu - Going is remembering". This is one of the tourism products in a series of new tours and routes to attract domestic and foreign tourists to HCMC. The tour includes five destinations, of which Phu Tho Hoa Tunnels is an impressive destination loved by many tourists.

After visiting Phu Tho Hoa Tunnels, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen requested that in addition to continuing to renovate the space in the tunnels, Tan Phu district needs to add more documents and images so that it is worth to its historical stature of a typical address of the unique creation of the forefathers; At the same time, the relic must be built into the Ho Chi Minh cultural space./.
