Over the past 10 years, the Ho Chi Minh city Women’s Union has mobilized over VND2 trillion to assist over 430,000 members in boosting economic development, giving vocational training to over 36,000 female labourers, and giving jobs to over 60,000 women.

The figures were announced during a meeting held in Ho Chi Minh city on August 8th to review 10 years of the implementation of the Politburo (Term X) Resolution 11 on women's work in increased industrialization and modernization.
During the meeting, Lam Thi Ngoc Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the city Women’s Union, said that Party organizations, authorities, unions and Party members, especially women, had carried out diverse activities to promote gender equality by participating in making gender equality policies, contributing to effectively realizing the Party guidelines and State laws on women's work.
According to Ms Hoa, over the past 10 years, the union has allocated 3,000 copies of gender equality law, 1,500 legal bulletins on gender equality, 5,000 question-and-answer books on the prevention of domestic violence, marriage and gender equality. The contents of Resolution 11, gender equality and domestic violence prevention laws have been disseminated to over 12.3 million women.
The number of women participating in Party Executive Committees has increased term by term, with the number of female People’s Council deputies at district and communal levels accounting for over 40%. Meanwhile, as of 2016, 5,610 women have been admitted to the Party.
Addressing the meeting, Head of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Commission on Popularization and Education Nguyen Thi Le urged the city Women’s Union to increase the awareness of the society, each family and women about the importance, role and position of women; to carry out practical issues in connection with the implementation of the city’s 10th Party Congress resolution and Directive 05 of the Politburo on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style; and to promote the role of women in Party and authority building./.
