Sixty five years ago, the Lao People's Revolutionary Party was established to take up the task of the Indochinese Communist Party which had been founded and developed by President Kaysone Phomvihane. The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party is the only and ruling political Party in Laos.
Over the past 65 years, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people have overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieved glorious victories in the cause of national liberation, protection and construction. In particular, after over 30 years of implementation of the renewal policy led by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people have gained great achievements in all fields, with increasing improvements in the life of the Lao people and the country’s prestige and position in the international arena.
Being close neighbors, Vietnamese and Lao people share a traditional, loyal and long-term relationship. In particular, since the establishment and leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party, later the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the relationship has been expanding and developing. The two nations have always stood side by side to develop the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, making it a precious resource and an important factor determining the success of each country’s revolution.
At present, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos which were founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, the two nations’ generations of Party and State leaders, and the two peoples, have been continuously reinforced and deepened in all areas. The two sides regularly maintain exchange of delegations. The two countries’ cooperation on national defense and security, economics, trade and investment, culture, education and training, healthcare, science and technology and other fields continue to be promoted. Meanwhile, the two countries also regularly cooperate closely and effectively, and support each other in international and regional issues.
During complicated development in global and regional situations, the significance of historical lessons of the Vietnam-Laos relationship remains. The Vietnamese Party, State and people always attach importance to preserving the great and faithful solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. The Party, State and people of Vietnam will do their best with the Party, State and people of Laos to constantly nurture the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region, as well as in the world./.
