A ground breaking ceremony in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk on the site of the construction of a statue of President Ho Chi Minh was attended by representatives from the Nghe An Provincial Administration, the Ulyanovsk Provincial Administration and the Overseas Vietnamese Association of Ulyanovsk.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa, Deputy Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the statue of President Ho Chi Minh was built for overseas Vietnamese in Ulyanovsk city in particular and the overseas Vietnamese community across Russia to offer incense, flowers and report their achievements to Uncle Ho on great national days.
The statue is also a significant cultural and spiritual bridge in consolidating the traditional friendship between Russia and Vietnam in general and the long-lasting twinning relation between Nghe An and Ulyanovsk in particular. It expresses the respect and love of the people of the two countries for President Ho Chi Minh.
The representative of Ulyanovsk city said the statue of President Ho Chi Minh was a priceless gift that Vietnam was presenting to the city. The cultural work not only makes the city more beautiful, but will also help local people have conditions to regularly visit and show their affection to President Ho Chi Minh, a great pupil of V.I. Lenin, on the place where V.I. Lenin was born. The residents and city leaders wholeheartedly support the project and committed to upgrade Ho Chi Minh Boulevard into one of the most beautiful streets in the city.
The five-meter-bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh will be built on an area of over 2,000 square meters, locating next to Ho Chi Minh Boulevard (named in 1987) in Zasniazhsky district of Ulyanovsk city and it is built by the budget of Vietnam.
