In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that nearly 66 years ago, on November 28, 1959, President Ho Chi Minh wrote an article titled "Tree Planting Festival" published in Nhan Dan Newspaper, calling on individuals, families, organizations, and localities to actively participate in tree planting and care. He also highlighted the great significance and practical benefits of afforestation. Since then, every spring, the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" has become a nationwide tradition, embraced by the entire Party, people, and armed forces.
In response to the government's initiatives "Planting 5 Million Hectares of Forests" and "Planting 1 Billion Trees," the People's Public Security Forces have planted over 9 million trees. In 2024 alone, public security units across the country planted more than 3 million trees, contributing to reforesting bare land and barren hills, improving the ecological environment, fostering socio-economic development, reducing natural disasters and greenhouse gas emissions, and effectively addressing climate change.
The Minister urged that in 2025, the People's Public Security Forces continue organizing tree planting activities across units and localities nationwide, encouraging all officers and soldiers to actively participate in afforestation efforts.
Speaking in response, Colonel Nguyen Huu Manh, Director of Nam Dinh Provincial Public Security, stated that between 2021 and 2024, the provincial police force, in collaboration with the local Party Committee, government, and residents, had planted over 5 million trees and more than 200 hectares of forest.
At the ceremony, the Ministry of Public Security presented tree seedlings, fire prevention and firefighting uniforms, and environmental protection equipment to the Nam Dinh Provincial Public Security./.
