In 2024, the General Staff planted 10,119 trees, including 1,745 fruit trees and 8,374 timber trees, while closely coordinating with local authorities and units to take care of and protect the trees. These efforts have contributed to reforestation, reducing the consequences of national disaster, climate regulation, while enhancing the unit’s green landscape. This year, the GS aims to plant over 7,600 trees, including more than 1,600 fruit trees and over 6,000 timber trees.
Aiming to complete the tree planting target in 2025, General Nguyen Tan Cuong requested Party committees and commanders at all levels in the General Staff to continue to popularize, educate, and raise awareness for each cadre, employee, soldier, worker, defense official, and laborer about the role, great significance, and humane value of tree planting, afforestation, tree protection, forest protection, and ecological environment, creating a widespread movement throughout the army, contributing to minimizing the impact of climate change and improving the quality of life.
The GS’s Chief also requested each unit to review and adjust land use plans and tree-planting strategies to meet the set targets for 2021-2025 period. He stressed that tree-planting activities must be practical, efficient, and cost-effective. Units should ensure proper planning based on local conditions to achieve high growth rates, maximizing environmental and economic benefits.
After the launch ceremony, General Phan Van Giang and delegates planted nearly 600 trees at the National Military Training Center No.4.
The move is a practical event to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday; the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 80th anniversary of the General Staff's Traditional Day./.
