The ceremony was chaired by General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense.
Attending the ceremony were Politburo members: Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; General Luong Cuong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. Also attending were representatives of leaders of a number of ministries, branches and central agencies.
On November 28, 1959, with strategic vision, beloved President Ho Chi Minh wrote an article in Nhan Dan Newspaper with the topic "Tree Planting Festival". Responding to his call, since then, every year, together with the entire Party, the entire people, the entire political system and the Army has carried out many activities to plant trees, plant and protect forests, becoming a good tradition, regularly maintained by officers and soldiers, bringing practical benefits.
General Phan Van Giang said that from 2021 until now, units throughout the army have actively responded, proactively mobilized resources, and organized the planting of more than 19 million trees, reaching 100% of the plan, 2-3 times higher than in 2020.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that planting trees, afforesting, caring for and protecting the ecological environment is always one of the leading and most effective solutions to contribute to minimizing environmental pollution and responding to climate changes. At the same time, he also asked agencies and units throughout the army to do a better job of dissemination of education, and raising awareness for officers, employees, soldiers and workers about the role and meaning of tree planting, forestry, forest protection, and ecological environment protection.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man praised the outstanding achievements of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army in general and the great results and benefits from planting trees and creating forests that officers and soldiers of the entire army have achieved in recent times.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that the launching ceremony of the Tree Planting Festival organized by the Ministry of National Defense at the Vietnam Military History Museum is very meaningful. This is a project that is under construction and is about to be completed and put into use. It is an important and typical cultural institution of the Capital and the country, where many precious and iconic historical artifacts are displayed, aiming to teach the heroic revolutionary tradition of the nation and the heroic Vietnam People's Army through the ages. Planting more trees on the Museum campus will create a highlight for the general landscape of the building.
At the ceremony, on behalf of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard and agencies and units of the entire army, Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, spoke in response. Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates participated in planting trees on the campus of the Vietnam Military History Museum./.
