Learning about Uncle Ho’s house in Thailand

 

In 1928, on the journey to find the way for national liberation, Uncle Ho stopped there to conduct revolutionary activities under the alias of Thau Chin. In spite of only staying there for a short time from July 1928 to November 1929, Uncle Ho’s footprint in May village remains strong.

In January 2014, according to the initiative of General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, the governments of Vietnam and Thailand organized a Vietnam-Thailand intergovernmental conference and decided to establish a Thai - Vietnamese Friendship Village in May village.

On February 22nd, 2004, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Van Khai and Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawtra inaugurated the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village in May village, in honour of uncle Ho’s presence there.

In 2013, during a working visit to Thailand, Vietnamese General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the memorial area for President Ho Chi Minh and presented VND30 billion to the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association to build and upgrade the memorial area.

The work was started in May 2014 and is expected to complete in early 2016. It will be a place of pilgrimage for overseas Vietnamese on the occasion of the Lunar New Year Festival./.
