Members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation in Ho Chi Minh city are carrying out voluntary activities in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh from September 26 th -30 th .

The activities aim to mark the 50 th year of the Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic relationship.
Before their trip, the young volunteers laid a wreath at the President Ho Chi Minh statue in Ho Chi Minh city’s district 1, with the encouragement of the Secretary of the city Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Pham Hong Son; Cambodian General Consul to Ho Chi Minh city Im Hen; Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh city Fatherland Front Nguyen Thanh Trung; and President of the Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association, Truong Minh Nhut.
Doan Kim Thanh, a member of the Standing Board of the city Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Director of the Youth Science And Technology Development Centre and Head of the young volunteers’ delegation, said that after 5 years of interruption, the voluntary activities of the youth of Ho Chi Minh city in Cambodia return, to both mark the 50 th year of the Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic relationship and reinforce the twinned relationship between Ho Chi Minh city and Phnom Penh.
According to Mr. Thanh, the delegation will focus on giving healthcare to 1,000 disadvantaged people, installing 2 drinking water systems, creating a “green space” in Phnom Penh, and organising cultural and sports exchanges between Vietnamese and Cambodian people.
“Voluntary activities in Phnom Penh will continue to be carried out by the city Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation, contributing to reinforcing the friendship between the youth from the two countries,” said Mr. Thanh.
Attendants in the delegation include 20 members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union from the Cho Ray Hospital, the Saigon Water Corporation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and 10 doctors working at the Cho Ray Hospital – Phnom Penh branch./.
