The event was attended by Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is paying working visit to the southern African nation.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan recalled the moment when Samora Machel, the first president of an independent Mozambique, named one of the most beautiful avenues in Maputo after President Ho Chi Minh in 1977.

She emphasized that it is a symbol of the historical bond between the two countries, adding that despite the geographical distance and generational difference, two late presidents of the two countries shared the goal of freedom, equality, democracy and progress for both their people and entire mankind.

The Vice President affirms that the avenue is not only an honour to President Ho Chi Minh but also evidence of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

For his part, Maputo Municipal Council President Eneas Comiche expressed his pride in having an avenue named after President Ho Chi Minh and noted that the unveiling of the new name plaque is an opportunity for the two countries’ people to come closer together./.
