On the occasion of 25 years since the normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam, the President of the Ho Chi Minh Institute of Saint Petersburg National University (Russian Federation), Prof. Dr. Vladimir Kolotov, talked about the progress in the Vietnam-US relations.

According to expert Vladimir Kolotov, Vietnam-US relations have made impressive progress in 25 years of normalizing diplomatic relations. The two sides have found a common voice to solve problems in many different fields such as humanitarian cooperation, education, culture and especially economics.

He said that the process of normalizing relations with the US showed the vision of the Vietnamese Party and State leadership by creatively applying President Ho Chi Minh’s foreign policy.

The Russian expert shared that President Ho Chi Minh built a basic model of Vietnam's foreign policy in a simple and concise phrase of adding friends and reducing enemies.

This right policy has been inherited and skillfully applied by the Vietnamese leadership in building an equal relationship of mutual benefit with all countries. As a result, after 20 years of applying President Ho Chi Minh’s foreign policy, together with an approach suitable for the reality, Vietnam and the US have finally begun to restore diplomatic and economic relations. .

He added that in the second half of the 20th century, Vietnam has always demonstrated its willingness to develop equal and mutually beneficial relations with all partners. He said that Vietnam is now a country confident of its development path, gradually establishing its position and role in Southeast Asia./.
