The movement has been maintained since 2010 by saving at least VND2,000 per day. The money is collected each year to support humanitarian activities in their localities, and assist poor members and those in disadvantaged circumstances. One of the beneficiaries is Ms Phan Thi Mo in Hoa Khanh Nam ward who is supported with sewing machines at home, thus earning a stable income.

Besides, the women save rice and use savings credit to give loans to the other members, while those in Hoa Khanh Bac and Hoa Hiep Nam wards are appreciated for waste classification. Accordingly, waste that can be reused is collected to be sold to raise charitable funds.

Meanwhile, the Hoa Minh ward Women’s Union raised VND100 million to give support for poor women and children, creating a large-scale humanitarian movement. Notably, an union branch assisted 2 disadvantaged beneficiaries’ families with capital for repairing houses; and another branch donated money to create three saving books and buy 10 packages of rice to present to poor members’ families.

Lien Chieu district has seen many women working enthusiastically and dynamically, bringing practical benefits to communities. Notable is Trinh Thi Hong in Hoa Minh ward who uses waste and fruit skin to make an environmental friendly product to wash dishes and clean floors, and create jobs for others.

Meanwhile, Le Thi Hang in Hoa Khanh Nam ward gives free swimming courses to over 40 people. Meanwhile, she spends her money giving sewing vocational training and buying sewing machines to do sewing contracts, creating jobs for trained laborers with an income of VND3-4 million per month.

Over the past six years, saving models following Uncle Ho’s example have helped to assist thousands of poor families and poor children, as well as those encountering risks and accidents.

“The Women’s Unions at all levels are expanding effective saving models to make activities following Uncle Ho’s example a regular deed of each cadre and member,” said Le Thi Hang, President of the Lien Chieu district Women’s Union./.
