The southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau has launched the tree-planting festival and the program of planting 1 billion trees “For a Green Vietnam” in the 2021-2025 period.

In his speech at the event, Vice Chairman of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh said that following Uncle Ho’s teachings on the Tet tree-planting festival, the province has maintained and developed the movement and planted scattered trees in all localities.
In the 2015-2020 period, on average, Ba Ria-Vung Tau planted over 600ha of new forests each year. In 2021, the province planted nearly 400 hectares of forest and its forest coverage rate reached 13.79%.
The Vice Chairman asked all levels of Party committees, authorities, departments and branches to continue to further popularize and raise awareness for people about the purpose and meaning of the tree-planting festival.
After the launch ceremony, the province’s leaders and delegates planted 60 rosewood trees in the campus of the Rocket Battalion in Phuoc Long Tho commune, Dat Do district.
In 2022, the whole province will strive to plant 305ha of new forests and plant more than 1.4 million scattered trees under the Project on planting a billion trees in the 2021-2025 period approved by the Prime Minister./.
