Project to repair and upgrade President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial site in Laos

The statement was made by Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Vu Manh Ha at the groundbreaking ceremony for the project in Laos.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project has taken place in Xiengvang Village, Nong Bok District, Khammuon Province, nearly 400 km south of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. The project is about 1.5 hectares wide and has been in use since 10 years ago.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum Vu Manh Ha also emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial site in Xiengvang Village, Nong Bok District, Khammuon Province, is a work of great significance, contributing to preserving the tradition of solidarity, fidelity, purity and affection along as well as the special relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.

For his part, Acting Director of Kaysone Phomvihane Museum and Lao Revolutionary Leader Relic Sites Xayalath Phongyalak said that President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial site is an important place in terms of political history, helping people of the two countries better understand the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh as well as the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The project has a total cost of nearly 14 billion VND, funded by the Government of Vietnam.

President Ho Chi Minh's memorial site in Khammuon province was built by the Government of Vietnam and Laos on the land donated by Vietnamese in Laos. The memorial site was officially opened and put into operation in May 2012, becoming the first President Ho Chi Minh memorial site in Laos. The memorial site is an interwoven complex of Lao and Vietnamese architecture with a landscape of many flower gardens and lakes located right next to the Mekong River, including memorial house, exhibition house introducing the revolutionary activities of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ho Chi Minh with the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos./.
