Quang Ngai province’s veterans actively follow Uncle Ho’s teachings

According to Head of the provincial Veterans’ Association Board of Popularization and Education Pham Van Phuong, over the past years, the association members have actively carried out diverse models on environmental protection; care of martyrs’ cemeteries; planting of flowers along villages’ roads; and sanitation of surroundings, thus encouraging similar campaigns among local residents.

By practicing Uncle Ho’s example on savings, each Party member in the association contributes VND100,000 per month and each cadre or official contributes a day of salary each year to develop a fund for poor veterans’ children who gain excellent academic results. In particular, the association has mobilized capital to build 88 houses of payment of gratitude for its disadvantaged members. Meanwhile, charitable and social welfare work has been accelerated by caring for beneficiaries’ families and revolutionary contributors.

In response to movements on developing cultural lifestyle, protecting national security and traffic safety, fighting crime, preventing HIV transmission and social evils, the association members have always led in carrying out the movements. Apart from this, in realization of the movement “The whole country joins hands in building new style rural areas”, the association members have donated nearly 10,000 square metres of land, VND2 billion and thousands of working days to build or repair rural roads, irrigation canals and cultural constructions, thus providing a new face in rural areas.

They have also actively boosted domestic economic development and joined in protecting sea and island sovereignty by uniting in carrying out poverty reduction programs and those on sustainable poverty reduction. So far, the members have developed 41 small- and medium-sized enterprises and 328 farms. Effective production has helped create jobs for over 2,000 veterans’ children.

Vice President of the association Phan Van Thach confirmed that studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style had been identified as a regular deed of each member, and as part of solutions to fight degradation of some Party members’ morality and lifestyle, thus strengthening people’s trust in the Party./.
