Following Uncle Ho’s teachings helps boost Hai Phong development

Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Van Thanh confirmed that the city was not only a cradle of the communist movement in the two national resistance wars, but also the one that has turned Uncle Ho’s teachings into moral standard in overcoming the war consequences and increasing industrialization and modernization.

In particular, over 30 years of realization of the renewal and integration process, Hai Phong city has continued to unite in developing a strong city, with many outstanding and breakthrough achievements having been made, becoming the locality with leading economic growth.

According to Mr. Thanh, the investment environment has been remarkably improved, with FDI of over USD6.8 billion in 3 years, ranking among top localities of the country in FDI attraction. Socio-economic infrastructure has seen breakthrough development; people’s income as well as material and spiritual lives have been increased; and social welfare has been ensured.

In the first quarter of this year, Hai Phong city’s economic growth increased by 15.05%, with domestic budget collection of over VND8.523 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 33.7%; the industrial production index increasing by 23.01%; and export turnover reaching USD4.38 billion, an increase of 25.52%.

The strong development of the city has become a foundation for the Politburo to issue Resolution 45 on constructing and developing the city become the nation’s leading city in industrialization and modernization.

Accordingly, the city will develop modern, smart and sustainable industry; synchronous traffic infrastructure; a center of logistics services; an international center for education, training, research, application and development of science, technology and sea economy. It will also strive to make people’s material and spiritual lives equivalent to outstanding Asian cities.

Hai Phong will also make efforts to become a modern, smart and sustainable industrial city in Southeast Asia by 2030./.
