Sixty years ago, on May 18, 1963, President Ho Chi Minh spoke with and assigned tasks to Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals at the first congress of the Vietnam Association for the Dissemination of Science and Technology.

Forty years ago, on March 26, 1983, VUSTA, the organization gathering, uniting and promoting the creativity of science and technology intellectuals, was established.

The 40th anniversary of VUSTA will be solemnly celebrated on March 24 in Hanoi.

The celebration will be held with great significance for intellectuals, showing the Party and State's interest, respect and recognition for science and technology intellectuals who have made great contributions to national development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh, VUSTA Vice President, said that during the process of construction and development, under the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, the VUSTA has become a large socio-political organization of Vietnamese scientific and industrial intellectuals, making many important achievements, and significantly contributing to the cause of national development and protection.

From an initial organization with 15 associations and several thousand members, it now has 156 member associations with 3.7 million members, including about 2.2 million intellectuals.

VUSTA activities have stretched to areas such as knowledge dissemination, scientific research, international cooperation, honoring of intellectuals, and organizing of creative science and technology awards, consulting, criticism and social assessment./.
