One day at the end of November 2023, Ms. Phan Thi Kich participated in the journey back to her origin, organized by Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. As a child of the South, Ms. Kich always loves, admires and worships Uncle Ho. However, only when she turned 57 did she have an opportunity to go to Hanoi and visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum and go to Nam Dan district, the central Nghe An province, to see with her own eyes the simple thatched house, the bed, the yard and garden where Uncle Ho was born and grew up.

Ms. Kich and many delegates were excited and moved to tears when seeing the preserved artifacts with their own eyes and through guide’s presentations.

“Before, I had only heard and seen Uncle Ho through pictures and documentaries. Now that I can see with my own eyes the simple thatched house where Uncle Ho was born and raised, my heart is filled with emotions. From the moment I was informed to participate in the return trip, I was anxiously counting down the days," said Ms. Kich.

After joining the group at the Mausoleum to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Dong, 70 years old (from Hanoi, currently living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), choked up and wiped her tears. She said, this is the second time she has visited Uncle Ho. The first time she visited Uncle Ho was when she accompanied a group of students to see him off in 1969. "This time, visiting Uncle Ho, I and other people in the delegation made a report  to Uncle Ho our actions in supporting the community and society. Everything we do, we follow Uncle Ho's example," said Ms. Anh Dong.

In November 2023, Ho Chi Minh City People's coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize two visit to Uncle Ho’s hometown to honour  examples of "Silent but noble examples" in the patriotic emulation movement of Ho Chi Minh City, period 2014-2022. From the city named after Uncle Ho, delegates went to the capital Hanoi and the provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Pham Minh Tuan, since 2014, through 5 times of organization, Ho Chi Minh City has commended 618 silent but noble examples. The role models have silently contributed to society with compassionate and meaningful deeds, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City with an increasingly good, civilized, modern and loving living quality./.
