Every year, at the start of spring, government agencies, local authorities, organizations, and people from all walks of life actively take part in the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh." Trees are planted in parks, public offices, schools, and residential areas, contributing to beautifying landscapes and creating a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.

For nearly 70 years since President Ho Chi Minh initiated this movement, Cao Bang has nurtured and developed it into a vibrant and lasting campaign. Beyond fostering a spirit of labor and achievement, the festival also upholds the nation's cultural tradition of planting, caring for, and protecting forests. It plays a key role in achieving the Government’s "Planting One Billion Trees" project for the 2021-2025 period. The movement contributes to poverty reduction, enhances the multifunctional role of forests, improves the ecological environment, mitigates natural disasters, adapts to climate change, boosts socio-economic development, and enhances the quality of life for local people while promoting sustainable growth for both the province and the country.

In 2024, the entire province planted 1,659 hectares of forest, bringing the forest coverage rate to 54.56%.

The trees planted in the early years of the Tree Planting Festival, following President Ho Chi Minh’s call, have thrived and become valuable landscape elements in cultural sites, urban streets, parks, and green forest canopies in areas that were once barren hills and empty lands. These trees contribute to a more vibrant and healthier natural environment for both the local community and the nation.

The Tree Planting Festival is a beautiful and meaningful tradition in Vietnamese culture that past, present, and future generations will continue to preserve and promote. It is also a practical and effective action for environmental protection and the long-term well-being of the country, aligning with President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings./.
