On December 21, Phuc Yen city in the northern province of Vinh Phuc celebrated the 20th anniversary of the re-establishment of Phuc Yen town (now Phuc Yen city) and the 65th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s visit.
The streets of Phuc Yen are jubilant with flags and flowers.
Phuc Yen town was established on October 31, 1905, including 3 villages of Dam Xuyen, Thap Mieu and Tien Chau, and it is the chief town of Phuc Yen province.
After many times of separation, merger and transfer to administrative units, on January 1, 2004, Phuc Yen officially came into operation under the new administrative boundaries.
In his speech at the event, Secretary of the Phuc Yen City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized Phuc Yen is an urban area that has been formed and developed for nearly 120 years. Since its re-establishment, with its position as the province’s economic leader, Phuc Yen has achieved high economic growth for many consecutive years, with budget revenue increasing and accounting for a large proportion of total budget revenue of Vinh Phuc.
In recent years, the city's budget revenue has always exceeded 20 trillion VND a year, and annual industrial production value accounts for more than 80% of the province’s total industrial production value.
In 2023, the city’s total production value reached more than 68 trillion VND. In terms of economic structure, industry and construction accounted for 95%, services account for 4.5%, and agriculture only 0.5%.
During the process of formation, construction and development, Phuc Yen people welcomed Uncle Ho to visit and work many times. 65 years ago, on December 24, 1958, Uncle Ho visited and worked with Phuc Yen town.
Speaking to the training class for agricultural cooperative officials, Uncle Ho spent time analyzing agricultural economics in general and cooperatives in particular. He requested democracy in all work, because only with good democracy, can issues of production and distribution of products be clear, public, and ensure solidarity./.
