President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked at this place from February to October, 1940. There, he met revolutionists, including Pham Van Dong and Vo Nguyen Giap, and other comrades in Kunming to discuss important events of the Vietnamese revolution. President Ho Chi Minh also toured the Yunnan - Vietnam railway and had many other activities. The President Ho Chi Minh historical relic site holds important historical, cultural and traditional educational values. In 2011, the old house was recognised as a cultural relic site protected at the municipal level, and in 2019, it was raised to be protected at the provincial level.

To continue to inherit and promote the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, and promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, on May 19, 2022, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Culture and Tourism in Yunnan province, and Kunming city authority coordinated with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Kunming and related agencies to organize a groundbreaking ceremony to restore the relic site of President Ho Chi Minh's former residence.

The relic is located on Hua Shan Nan street on a ground area of 121.5 square meters. A lot of photos and documents of President Ho Chi Minh during his stay in the city are displayed at the site.

In the guestbook at the relic site, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his emotion. “During the revolutionary years, looking for a way to save the country and liberate the nation, President Ho Chi Minh set foot in many places around the world, of which China was the place where he was most attached and spent a long time working together with senior leaders of the Party and State of China, writing a glorious page of history about their wholehearted support and assistance in the revolutionary cause of the two countries, laying the foundation for friendly relations between Vietnam and China,” he wrote.

He also expressed his thanks for the Party organisations, authorities and people of Yunnan and Kunming for maintaining and repairing the relic site, which he said was a vivid demonstration of the Vietnam - China relations./.
