A ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Public Security on April 5 in Hanoi to open the Book and Reading Culture Day with the theme "The People's Public Security Forces read and study for life following great Uncle Ho's example" and launched the building of the "Ho Chi Minh bookcase" in the People's Public Security Forces.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc To, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS), affirmed that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh was very fond of reading and valued books and newspapers. He was very interested in building and developing a reading culture in the community, creating all conditions for people to access and enjoy spiritual food through books and newspapers in order to develop knowledge of society and each person, contributing to building a rich and beautiful country, building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
Thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing the teaching of Uncle Ho, the Party and State always attach great importance to the building and development of a learning society, especially the development of reading culture in the community through the master plan on development of the library, journalism and publishing industries; at the same time, many guiding documents have been issued to promote library activities, together with appropriate mechanisms and policies to encourage reading, he added.
Towards the 75th year since President Ho Chi Minh issued 6 teachings for the people's public security forces (March 11, 1948 - March 11, 2023) and effectively implementing Uncle Ho's teachings, the Ministry of Public Security launched the movement "The People's Public Security Forces read and study for life following great Uncle Ho's example" among the entire People's Public Security force.
At the event, the organizers also launched the “Ho Chi Minh bookcase” among the People's Public Security force. Accordingly, agencies and units have sponsored nearly 500 million VND and 1,000 books to build the bookcase.
Right after the opening ceremony, Prof. Hoang Chi Bao, former member of the Central Theoretical Council of the Party Central Committee, introduced a large number of officers and soldiers two books by the General, Prof. Dr. To Lam, Minister of Public Security: "New points on national security in the Documents of the 13th National Party Congress"; and "Improve the quality of political thought among People's Public Security forces before the new situation".
Within the framework of the Book Day, there are also many meaningful and attractive activities on study and reading promotion such as book exhibition, exchange and donate books, and art book placement contest.
