Ministry of National Defense launches tree planting festival

The launch ceremony aims to continue maintaining the tree planting festival movement in gratitude to Uncle Ho and respond to the Program of planting 1 billion trees launched by the Prime Minister.

Speaking at the event, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that following the guidelines of the Party and State and the direction of the Prime Minister, every year, units in the whole army organize tree planting festivals in the barracks campus, afforestation on the area of land allocated for management.

At the same time, they also closely coordinate with Party executive committees, local authorities, agencies and units where they are stationed to care for and protect forests.

In 2015 - 2020, the whole army planted nearly 11 million trees of all kinds, making an important contribution to greening bare land, barren hills, regulating climate, improving ecological environment, creating landscape; contributing to economic and social development, and stabilizing life and employment for people.

Since early 2021, all units of the army have launched tree planting and afforestation around the barracks and training ground. In 2021 and 2022 alone, the whole army planted over 7 million scattered trees and over 3,600 hectares of forest.

Minister Phan Van Giang expressed his belief that the tree planting and afforestation movement of the whole army will achieve good results, successfully completing the plan of planting nearly 3.2 million scattered trees and more than 2,000 hectares of forest in 2023./.
