The monument square features the statue of President Ho Chi Minh, reliefs made of 484 stone panels, a memorial space for the President, and other auxiliary facilities. The reliefs are placed behind the monument, featuring typical images and landmarks from the 17th parallel to the south and popular places in Kien Giang, affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over sea and islands.

In addition to the monument, the project also includes a temple, a display house for President Ho Chi Minh and a reception house. The display house has three areas of content: the story of Uncle Ho's life and revolutionary career; Uncle Ho's affection for southern people and soldiers; and Uncle Ho's interest in preserving and protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.

Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, said that the President Ho Chi Minh Monument project has profound political, cultural and historical significance. Funding for project implementation comes from central capital and local budgets.

Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for Popularization and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia said the project has great significance commemorating the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and the 55th anniversary of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's Will. “The work engraves President Ho Chi Minh's affection towards the people of the whole country and the people of the South,” he said.

Phu Quoc has a natural area of nearly 600 square kilometers, a population of 150,000 people, and total budget revenue of nearly VND8 trillion per year. The country's first island city is developing into a service and island tourism center of national and international stature./.
