Hanoian family proud of welcoming Uncle Ho back from Viet Bac War Zone

Nguyen Thi An's house in Hamlet 2, Phu Gia Village (now Residential Area 3, Phu Thuong Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi) is known as the first stopover of President Ho Chi Minh upon his return to Hanoi from the Viet Bac War Zone from August 23-25, 1945, to prepare for the debut of the Provisional Government and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

The house gradually became one of the reliable and solid revolutionary bases.

Mr. Cong Ngoc Dung, grandson of Ms Nguyen Thi An and custodian of Uncle Ho's Memorial House, shared his feeling: “I am very fortunate to have been born and raised in the family's glorious revolutionary tradition. All members of my family are united and determined to preserve the status and every memory of Uncle Ho in the house.”

In the northern region’s culture, the nave is considered the most important place of a house. Mr. Dung's family used the nave to dignify and revere Uncle Ho's photo with the words "Eternal gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh".

Precious exhibits of Uncle Ho are preserved in original condition.

The mirror and brass that Uncle Ho used are priceless treasures that have been carefully preserved for generations in Mr. Dung's family.

The water tank in the corner of the yard that Uncle Ho used and each brick bearing his footprints are still intact.

The two sides of the house are decorated solemnly to introduce documents and artifacts during the revolutionary activities of Uncle Ho and high-ranking cadres of the Party Central Committee. The house has become a "red address" that is both a place to save the memories of Nguyen Thi An's family and educate the younger generations about patriotism and revolutionary spirit.

Formerly Phu Gia Village, which was the revolutionary base of the Party from the pre-resistance war period, was located in the "safe zone" of the Party Central Committee during the period 1941-1945. The villagers protected many high-ranking Party officials such as comrades Truong Chinh, Hoang Van Thu, Le Duc Tho and Hoang Tung.

On August 15, 2019, the house was recognized as a city-level historical relic with the name "Place commemorating the event that President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked at the family of Ms Nguyen Thi An".

This small house is not only the pride of Mr. Dung's family, but also the common honor of local people.
