This is a very meaningful and practical activity to celebrate the 61st anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Co To Island (May 9, 1961 - May 9, 2022) and the ceremony to receive the Certificate of Ranking of National Monuments of President Ho Chi Minh memorial site on Co To Island.

The national flags also carry the heart and feelings of officers and soldiers of the High Command to protect the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum with the army and people of Co To Island District, so that they confirm Vietnam's sovereignty over sea and islands.

The red flag with yellow star - Vietnam's national flag, symbol of independence, freedom and happiness of the Vietnamese people - is associated with the struggle for national liberation and defense of the fatherland. The image of a red flag with a yellow star flying proudly is the pride of every Vietnamese person; the affirmation of Vietnam's sovereignty; the respect and gratitude for great merit, and infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed their whole lives for the independence and freedom of the fatherland, for the society, for the peace and development of the Vietnamese people today.

According to Nguyen Viet Dung, Secretary of the Co To District Party Committee and Chairman of the District People’s Committee, on May 9, 1961, Uncle Ho visited Co To Island. He reminded that although Hanoi is far from the islands, the Party and Government always care about the people of the islands, hoping that the islanders would unite and try their best to gain achievements. “Uncle Ho's teachings are forever engraved in the hearts of officers and soldiers of the people of Co To Island,” said Mr. Dung, adding that the island Party Committee, authority and people always learn to follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, in order to firmly protect the national sovereignty./.
