Following Uncle Ho’s teachings has become regular work among women in Ba To district, the central province of Quang Ngai, as they carried out practical activities to assist disadvantaged families to build happy families.
Accordingly, over the past 5 years, women’s unions at all levels have mobilised nearly 9,700 kilograms of rice and over VND170 million to help 165 elderly and disadvantaged members and orphans, and poor children gaining excellent academic results.
Pham Thi Thuyen, Chairwoman of the Ba Vinh communal Women’s Union, said that the union has 836 members who live mainly on agricultural production and small trading, thus leading difficult lives. However, by carrying out emulation movements and obeying Uncle Ho’s teachings, the members have recently contributed 1,800 kilograms of rice and nearly VND10 million to help 21 poor women improve their living standards.
In Ba Tieu commune, the women collected nearly 2,000 kilograms of rice and nearly VND13.5 million to help 14 families in extremely disadvantaged circumstances, 3 orphans and a disabled woman, according to Pham Thi Mich, Chairwoman of the communal Women’s Union.
Additionally, by saving money each day, the women have saved millions of VND each year to help poor pupils continue their education at school./.
