Professor Vladimir Kolotov is a famous scholar of Vietnamese studies. He spent a lot of time and effort researching President Ho Chi Minh's activities and participated in translating many of Uncle Ho’s works into Russian, including the book on Sun Tzu’s “Art of War" published by the Saint Petersburg State University Publishing House.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi expressed his respect for the book, affirming that this is very important for Russian people to better understand President Ho Chi Minh, as well as Vietnamese military art.

The Ambassador highly appreciated Mr. Vladimir Kolotov's efforts in strengthening friendly relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the fields of science and culture.

Ambassador Khoi emphasized that the publication of the book on Sun Tzu’s Art of War is even more meaningful because it was introduced to the Russian public on the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-May 19, 2022).

The book includes two works deeply researched, translated and compiled by President Ho Chi Minh during the early period of the resistance war against the French colonialists. These are valuable documents used not only for military purposes but also in many other fields such as diplomacy, economics, politics and culture.

On this occasion, authorized by the President of Vietnam, Ambassador Khoi awarded the Friendship Medal to the Ho Chi Minh Institute under Saint Petersburg National University. This honorary award demonstrates the Vietnamese State's appreciation for the achievements and contributions of the Institute's staff to the development of relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. It is also a symbol of the strong traditional friendship between the two peoples.

Rector of Saint Petersburg National University Nikolai Kropachev said that the Ho Chi Minh Institute under Saint Petersburg National University opened on May 19, 2010. Since that time, the Ho Chi Minh Institute has become an advanced research center not only on Vietnamese history and culture but also on the activities and thoughts of great leader Ho Chi Minh, a political leader, philosopher and outstanding cultural figure of not only Vietnam, but also the world.

He also expressed his honor when the Ho Chi Minh Institute received the noble medal of the State of Vietnam and wished to have more and more translation works on literature, art, economics, education and tourism of Vietnam into Russian to contribute to deepening the friendly relationship between the two countries./.
