The activity named "Following President Ho Chi Minh’s footsteps - Inheriting the friendship tradition between Vietnam and China" was recently organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Shanghai and Jiangsu province’s Foreign Affairs Office on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho visiting Jiangsu province (May 17-20, 1961).

The program aimed to honour President Ho Chi Minh in foreign countries and further promote the friendship and cooperation with China’s Jiangsu province.
In the framework of this program, the delegation of officials and party members of both sides went to Jiangsu province’s Archive Department to visit and study Uncle Ho's documents and images from his visits to Jiangsu in 1955, 1961, 1966; and visited the monuments that Uncle Ho visited in.
Particularly, the two sides held a seminar and exchange about the noble values of President Ho Chi Minh's thought and morality, as well as the important meanings of preserving, inheriting and promoting the friendship tradition built and cultivated by Uncle Ho, Uncle Mao and leading generations of the two Parties and countries.
Speaking at the seminar, Consul General Ninh Thanh Cong proudly affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was a great and outstanding leader, who sacrificed and devoted his life to the cause of national liberation of Vietnamese people, contributing to the common struggle for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress of countries around the world.
The Vietnam-China friendship, cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and generations of leaders of the two countries, has become a precious common property of the two nations, a solid foundation for bilateral relations development, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
This event was an opportunity for the agencies of the two sides, especially young officials and party members, to strengthen a deeper understanding of the history and friendship tradition between the two parties and the two countries. They should follow the good example to study, actively promote the friendly exchange and cooperation relationship between Jiangsu province and localities of Vietnam, making practical contributions to the stable and sustainable development of the bilateral relations.
The Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu province expressed his high consensus and emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh had made great contributions to the Vietnamese revolution and the international communist movement, and was a good friend of the Party, Government and people of China. The Party Committee, government, and people of Jiangsu province have had deep affection and feelings for President Ho Chi Minh. Inheriting that precious friendship tradition, Jiangsu province’s Foreign Affairs Office vowed to inherit the tradition, and join hands to nurture new development chapters for friendly neighborly relations, and mutually beneficial cooperation between China – Vietnam, he emphasized.
The friendly exchange and cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Jiangsu maintains stable development, economic and trade cooperation maintains a high growth rate. In 2020, trade turnover between Vietnam and Jiangsu will reach 24 billion USD, up 31.7% over the same period in 2019, accounting for an eighth of the total trade turnover between the two countries.
By the end of 2020, Jiangsu province has 240 investment projects in Vietnam with registered capital of over 1.55 billion USD; Vietnam has 51 investment projects in Jiangsu, with investment capital of 604 million USD./.
