The restaurant was opened in Maadi district, Cairo, by Ka Thuong and her husband Mohamed Anees Sharara, while Vietnam and Egypt are marking the 54th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 1st) and overseas Vietnamese are marking the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.

"I chose Ho Chi as the name of the restaurant to show respect and admiration to President Ho Chi Minh. He is the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people and found the way to liberate the nation from slavery and bring independence to the people. With all that emotion and respect, I named the restaurant as Ho Chi," said Mr. Mohamed Anees Sharara.

Opening a restaurant in Egypt is really a big deal on legal papers, not to mention the choice of location, dish and cuisine. However, in less than three months, Ka Thuong and her husband are able to open such a Vietnamese restaurant. This is really an effort.

The most difficult challenge for them is that spices and typical foods must be sent from Vietnam, such as glutinous rice, rice paper, noodles, vermicelli, spices to cook noodle soup (Pho). They said that a Vietnamese restaurant must have typical dishes for customers to know and come. Once they come, they will be "addicted". Therefore, the main dishes of the restaurant are very rich, such as beef noodle soup, fried spring rolls.

The couple said that just talking about “love Vietnam” is not enough, but it requires doing something. That is why they open the restaurant with many features of Vietnam. They want more Egyptian and international friends to know Vietnam through the space, and enjoy Vietnamese food right in the North African country.

"I find Vietnamese food very tasty and nutritious, so I would like to introduce the Vietnamese culinary characteristics to our Egyptian people. That is why I chose to open this restaurant in Cairo and it is probably the first Vietnamese restaurant in the Egyptian capital," said restaurant owner.

Arriving there, customers not only enjoy the dishes of Vietnamese people, but also enjoy music and singing performed by the owners of the restaurant. Mr. Sharara is an artist and the couple can sing Vietnamese songs well, especially songs about President Ho Chi Minh./.
