The event was attended by leaders, officials and employees of the city’s departments, agencies and sectors.

Vice Chairman of the Tho Quang ward People’s Committee Le Thi Kim Thuong said that the launch ceremony of the tree planting festival was held to enhance popularization and education about the role of trees, as well as to follow Uncle Ho’s teachings; realizing the target program of sustainable forestry development; consolidating and protecting the environment and landscape; and improving the quality of life for local people.

The activity also aims to call on people to protect trees, protect health and build a clean and green city environment.

According to Ms. Thuong, the terrain in Tho Quang ward, Son Tra district, has mountains, rivers, and sea and is often affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, impacting people’s lives. Therefore, planting trees, creating forests, protecting the ecological environment and developing forests sustainably plays a very important role for the locality.

At the event, Da Nang city planted 900 Than Mat trees (one of the typical flowering plants of Son Tra Peninsula) along the route from Green Lake to Bai Bac, Tho Quang ward, with a total length of more than 5km, in order to create its own beauty and identity, as a highlight for the city./.
