Bac Lieu Women’s Union emulates to follow Uncle Ho’s example

The Bac Lieu Women’s Union handed over a home to poor women members in Vinh Loi district.

Spreading many meaningful activities

With the thought of learning from Uncle Ho in the simplest things, following Uncle Ho’s example in daily life as well as in the union’s work, all levels of the provincial Women's Union have constantly promoted the spirit of solidarity and love, making efforts to help its members in difficult circumstances stabilize their lives.

Among them, the Women’s Union of Phuoc Long district is one of the groups that well implements the emulation movement of following Uncle Ho’s teachings with practical and creative activities.

Over the past years, the district Women’s Union maintained and expanded the group “Women with charity work” with 21 groups (231 members), thereby mobilizing and giving thousands of gifts, building homes for poor members and people in difficult circumstances with nearly 2.5 billion VND.

The movement of accompanying women in difficult circumstances was also implemented effectively by all levels of the Women’s Union in the district, helping 16 members get business loans with an amount of 99 million VND. At the same time, many women proactively chose models suitable to their localities, proactively absorbed new technology applications, improved labor productivity, and created competitive products in the market.

Studying and following Uncle Ho associated with emulation movement

The Standing Committee of the Bac Lieu Women’s Union has attached studying and following Uncle Ho closely to the theme of the union’s activities in 2023 with emulation movements such as “Building Vietnamese women in the new era who are ethical, knowledgeable, healthy, and responsible for themselves, their families, society and the country”, “Building Bac Lieu women who are united, creative, dynamic, and proactive in helping each other reduce poverty and get rich legitimately”.

In particular, all levels of the union actively mobilized and supported women to start businesses and develop the economy.

The union established 6 new cooperatives with 175 members; 24 cooperative groups and affiliated groups with 350 members; and 75 savings groups and capital partnership groups with 1,187 members to create jobs and livelihoods for many women. Since then, many members in poor and near-poor circumstances have escaped poverty. Nearly 1,000 households escaped poverty this year, reaching the target of 131.4%.

Ms. To Thi My Thuan, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Women’s Union, said that in the coming time, the Standing Committee of the provincial Women’s Union will continue to direct all levels of the union to closely follow the annual topic about studying Uncle Ho associated with emulation movements and campaigns of the union and the locality.

At the same time, the union will review and evaluate effective models to replicate and promote popularization and encourage women members to learn from and follow Uncle Ho in even the simple things./.
