Under the MoU, the two localities agreed to regularly exchange high-ranking delegations, departments, agencies and unions; boost comprehensive cooperation  in all areas, including Party building, education and training, economics, trade, healthcare, agriculture, culture and tourism; and make favourable conditions for the two localities’ businesses to cooperate with each other.

During his talks with Secretary Nhan, Santiphap Phomvihan, Secretary of the Savannakhet provincial Party Committee and Governor of the province, said that he hoped Ho Chi Minh and Savannakhet province would continue to cooperate in economics, infrastructure, training of human resources and education.

According to Secretary Nhan, Savannakhet province and Ho Chi Minh city share similarities in terms of large population in each country. So far, the Lao province is the third to set up a friendly and cooperative relationship with Ho Chi Minh city, after Vientiane and Champasak province. “Ho Chi Minh city will continue to support Savannakhet province in training human resources, and granting scholarships to Lao pupils and students,” said Mr. Nhan.

Earlier, Secretary Nhan led the delegation to lay a wreath to commemorate Uncle Ho at the commemorative site in Savannakhet province where Uncle Ho held a fact-finding trip on the political, economic and social situation in June 1929.

They also burnt incense and paid homage to President Cayson Phomvihan at a commemorative room, and planted trees at the President Cayson Phomvihan Memorial./.
